Outing Club

Ski Grooming

The Tamworth Outing Club grooms approximately 10km of cross-country ski trails in Wonalancet, in two locations. The larger network, a series of loop trails that ranges from easy to moderate, is accessed from the hiker parking lot off Ferncroft Road. The trails in this section also lead to extensive ungroomed terrain in the White Mountain National Forest. A second trail leaves from Route 113A just west of the Wonalancet Chapel, toward North Sandwich. The trail’s first mile is relatively flat, with a fairly steep (and challenging in fast conditions) uphill to the top of Mt. Katherine and an outlook over the Wonalancet intervale.

Thanks to generous financial support from the Tamworth Foundation and numerous individuals, the Club took delivery in late 2021 of a Honda Pioneer UTV and a Yellowstone Track Systems Ginzu groomer and roller. This equipment greatly improves the efficiency of trail grooming in varying conditions.  At times, the Club also uses its Yamaha snowmobile to pull the groomer or roller.

Use of the trails is free, but the Outing Club gratefully welcomes donations to help defray the costs of trail grooming and maintaining the equipment, at PO Box 311, Tamworth, NH  03886. Watch the Tamworth Exchange or the TOC Facebook page for grooming updates.
